Soap and Glory vs The Body Shop

Hey Guys!

Sorry for me having been gone for so long, ideas weren't coming in. But today I wanted to write about my two body butters and compare them. Woohoo, let's go!

So firstly the Soap and Glory Righteous Butter Body Butter (Can be bought from Boots, £2.50)

 ~ Pros ~

  • Like all Soap and Glory products, it smells A.MA.ZING.
  • Rubs nicely and easily into the skin.
  • It doesn't feel bothering on your skin later in the day.

~ Cons ~
  • It doesn't have a buttery texture but isn't it called body BUTTER?
  • It's slightly liquidy (although some may say that's what makes it get into your skin so easily and well).
  • It gets used up quite quickly.

Secondly, the Passion Fruit Body Butter (From the Body Shop, Originally £13 but is currently on offer for £5).

~ Pros ~

  • It smells really REALLY good.
  • It has a buttery smell and the texture is like it should be.
  • I got it on sale. £5 for a massive 200ml pot! What a bargain!
  • It's got a cool purple-y colour (not that it makes much of a difference to the actual product but why not have it looking awesome too eh?)
 ~ Cons ~

  • It's hard to get the butter into your skin as it's quite hard and thick.
  • After applying the butter it may feel a tad sticky and uncomfortable.

So that's pretty much it guys! Even though I guess The Body Shop's Passion Fruit Body Butter technically wins, I still really can't pick. I noticed both body butters gave immediate effects to my skin and really improved it, making it much smoother and softer within only a few days.

Let me know if there are any other types of body butters that you recommend as I'd love to give them a try.

Top 14 homework tips for 2014

Heyo!

So most of us have just started or are about to start school which means... homework! Woohoo! Fun, fun, fun! (Is the word "fun" starting to look weird to you?) Homework is actually very hard to do because most of the time it's so boring that I start staring at the wall in front of me which is much more fun (yes I used the word "fun" again). It can be really hard to concentrate and sometimes it just all get's overloaded and slightly out of control.

Here are a few tips from me on ways to get your homework done more efficiently:

1.Write a time table for after school. Fill in what you need to do from the moment you get home, to the moment you go to sleep. Include time to relax as well as homework. STICK TO IT!

2.Make sure you note down as much of your teacher's instructions for the homework as possible in a homework diary. This may not always be easy as your planner may have quite limited space. If this is the case, either write the biggest and most important points down or bring extra paper with you to note it down in detail. Either way, you'll feel much better about homework when you know exactly what to do.

3.Do the homework that is next due. This may sound obvious but people tend to do homework in a very random order. Consistency makes you feel more organised.

4.Try not to spend more than 2-3 hours doing homework. You'll start to feel tired and besides, you deserve to do things that you feel like doing too.

5. If your form tutor allows you to do whatever you like during form time, use that time to do some homework! You'll have less to do at home.

6.Time yourself. Set yourself a certain amount of time to do work (e.g. 30-45minutes) and then give yourself a little break. Once your break is over, carry on for another 30-45 minutes. Do this for as long as you need to.

7.If you tend to be very slow when doing homework (like me), tell yourself that you have a certain amount of time to complete each homework e.g. 30 minutes for my English task, 45 minutes for my history essay, 15 minutes for my geography quiz etc.

8.Reward yourself for finishing your homework. Decide that once you've finished your work, you can have a little treat or watch a nice movie. This will motivate you.

9.Try to avoid doing your homework next to a computer (unless it involves one) or a phone. When I do my homework I get distracted very easily and end up going on Facebook. This is why I try to do my homework in the kitchen when there's nobody there and/or I give my phone to my sister and I tell her that she's not allowed to give it back until I've finished my homework. This method works very well for me.

10. Try to do as much weekend homework as possible on Fridays. I know it's really depressing but just imagine how relieved you'll feel on Sunday!

11. This is a really obvious one but let's face it, a lot of us don't do it. When you have a homework project to do, don't do it all the night before, divide it bit by bit. Perhaps you could do a little bit once or twice a week.

12. DON'T watch TV or YouTube or chat on social networking sites while doing your homework. This just makes your homework take far longer than it needs to as you'll get distracted.

13. Try to do your homework at least two days before it's due. This allows you to go to your teacher if you don't understand anything.

14. Personally, I don't like listening to music while doing homework. It's far too distracting and I end up singing along rather than working however, I know many people who say that music helps them focus. If this is the case for you, then indeed, DO do it! (Yes I know, I said do do...)

So that's all for today Folks! I hope you've enjoyed today's post and found these tips useful. (I should probably try the ones I don't already do as well).

Good Luck x

Natural Collection Body Sprays

Heyo!

Even though I'm not a beauty blogger I decided that I wanted to write a blog post today about my favourite Natural Collection Body Sprays. Woohoo! Let's get started!

Vanilla Body Spray:

Natural Collection Vanilla Body Spray (£2.00)

So firstly the Vanilla Body Spray. I've been using this one for roughly four years now and it is A.MA.ZING. It's smell is very subtle but will still have you smelling like a flower. You know in the P.E changing rooms when it just smells so awful and stuffy because of the overuse of people's deodorant and perfume, causing you to have a slight headache when you come out? This doesn't do that! You can spray it many, many times and it still doesn't become too overwhelming. (But do keep your mouth closed when spraying it because it doesn't taste good! I've been that stupid before).

Mango and Papaya Body Spray:

The Natural Collection Mango and Papaya Body Spray (£2.00)

I recently discovered the mango and papaya body spray and honestly, in terms of scent, I think it beats the vanilla spray. If you prefer stronger scents I would go for this one. It has a very fruity smell and although it's smell is more obvious, it's not all chemical-y (I made that word up ;)). If you want to purchase the Mango and Papaya Body Spray buy it as soon as you see it in stock. I've only seen it twice in boots (and I go almost every week! I know, welcome to my sad life... haha).

Although the point of wearing body spray is to put it on before getting dressed, I'm always forgetful and spray them on top of my clothes which has never left any stains or marks. I use it everyday and one bottle lasts me about two to three months. Make sure you DO NOT leave the spray near the radiator or anything exceptionally hot as they don't smell good once they've been heated (I've experienced this with the vanilla one). The nozzle is very easy to press down on and the spray comes out very easily too. It's also extremely cheap for what it is, only £2.00! I would absolutely recommend buying either of these two sprays however, I personally don't like the other flavours as I find that they smell slightly too (brace yourself, yes, I'm going to use the word again) chemical-y. You can buy these sprays in Boots however as said before, be quick to purchase them as they go out of stock very quickly!

Please excuse my over use of the word 'Smell' (it was hard to think of synonyms) but nevertheless I hope you've enjoyed reading today's blog post and if you've used The Natural Collection Body Sprays before and there are any other flavours that you like, do leave a comment and let me know what they are!

Heyo!

Two or three months ago I created an account for Bloglovin'. I was inspired by a close friend who I discovered was already writing a blog and I decided to do the same. I really wanted to write but I didn't know what about so I waited and waited until an idea popped into my head. Only yesterday did I have a good idea to start me off. Obviously being as excited as I was, I couldn't wait so I jumped straight into it. Today I realised that I haven't even introduced myself yet! So this is what today's blog post is going to be about. (It will only be short though).

So, as you've probably figured my name's Sharleen and I'm a teenager from London. I'm extremely interested in performing arts (particularly singing) and I perform fairly regularly so perhaps that would be something to write about?

I've never really been interested in blogs until a few months ago. I've yet to find a blog topic that I'm really interested in reading however, I'm really enjoying writing. The outcome I would like after writing a blog is for me to discover what really interests me. I'm an extremely talkative person so perhaps this would also help me to have a bit of quiet time with my own thoughts. As for you, I would be very happy to know that people were/are reading my blog and enjoying reading what I have to say.
I hope you won't mind that my blog is about everything and anything that interests me and what I hope will interest YOU as well.

I would really appreciate it if you leave comments under my current and future blog posts and get involved in watching me grow as a writer.

New Year, Christmas... It's all over but the resolutions are just beginning

2014. Once again. Another year has finished and we're back to the start again of a new one. 363 days from now we'll be doing the countdown once again for 2015. Seems pointless to some people. It seems pointless to some to say "New Year, New Me". Honestly, most people won't change. I suppose you have to make the effort right? I believe that no one can just completely change their personality. You are who you are full stop. Maybe there are just small tweaks people make which as a whole, makes someone different.

Over 2013 I really changed as a person. *Breaks out into song* "WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU MAKES YOU STRONGER, STAND A LITTLE taller, Doesn't mean I'm la da da da da da da..."

Moving on... in the last few months of 2013 I noticed that I had quite an uptight personality. I would always need to have things done to my convenience and I would debate with others until things were the way I wanted them to be. When people misplaced things in my bedroom, I would become extremely upset. Around November-ish, I decided to become more laid back. When making plans with my friends, I started to compromise more. I've started to see that my life is much easier already however, I haven't completely let go. I still need to become more loose in many aspects of my life.

That's why I've decided that for my new year's resolution I'm going to work on being more laid back.

The day before New Year's Eve I went ice-skating for the first time with my friends. Despite being 14 years old and living in London, I've never been before so understandably, I was really excited but somehow didn't want to go either. I was too afraid to embarrass myself. Nevertheless, I still went. Of course my experience started off with me clinging for my life onto the side of the rink. Eventually (although it took me long) I managed to take one hand off the side. Of course when you go ice-skating, many people decide that they feel like just standing on the side having a conversation with their "besties" which means that at times you have to make a decision. Should I wait for them to finish their conversation or should I "skate" around them. Obviously this is a very frustrating situation but I'm glad that happened because it meant that I was forced to let go of the side and hold on to my friends, something I would never have had the courage to do without those people's lack of consideration. Haha. By the end, I managed to "ice-skate" halfway around the rink without any of my hands holding onto the side. You may be wondering why I keep writing the word 'skating' in quotation marks. Let's just say that I wasn't so much skating as I was being dragged along by my friends.

After that hour on the rink I decided that my second resolution would be to improve my ice-skating skills.

Good luck with accomplishing your own resolutions.

Happy New Year!
